Dear Families, We are excited to share that our next learning unit in the preschool classroom is all about Trees! Over the coming weeks, we’ll be exploring these fascinating parts of nature through play, observation, and hands-on activities.
Here's what your child will be learning:
Characteristics of Trees: We’ll observe the parts of a tree (roots, trunk, branches, and leaves) and discuss their role in the environment.
Seasonal Changes: Together, we’ll notice how trees look during different seasons and how they adapt.
Wildlife and Trees: We’ll explore the animals and insects that call trees their home.
Creative Expression: Children will engage in art projects inspired by trees, including leaf rubbings, painting, and building their own "tree" models.
Activities to Look Forward To:
Nature walks to observe trees up close.
Reading books about trees and their importance.
Planting our own mini-trees or seeds to care for in the classroom.
What can you do at home:
Take a walk and notice the trees in your neighborhood. Talk with your child about their colors, shapes, and sizes.
Encourage your child to collect small natural items (leaves, acorns, etc.) to bring them to school for our exploration table.
