Although the students are in 2nd grade, they are responsible for their own homework. They must learn how to do their assignments in a timely fashion and have all the necessary books and supplies to complete them. Every year the students will have more responsibilities, so it's important to learn this now.
The students write their homework in their planners. It is on the Smart Board and I do not take it down until all the students have written their homework. They are required to write their homework completely & correctly. They have plenty of time.
The students are responsible for bringing home all necessary books & materials. I do tell and show them what books to bring home. They are responsible for completing all assignments. All homework is due the next day unless otherwise noted. Students are not allowed to come back to school to retrieve any forgotten homework. Parents please do not drop off any homework, projects, or books left at home in the office.
Homework can be collected & graded at any time.
Studying is homework! Just because your child doesn't have written homework doesn't mean they don't have to study.
Parents MUST check & sign their child's homework, planner, and take home folder every night. Please check their bookbags to make sure they have all their supplies for the next day.
A signature is required on all tests below 80%. Parents are responsible for checking the Educate site for their child's grades. Please email Ms. Forese if you do not have a user name or password.
Any homework not completed will result in a consequence, such as no recess, a demerit or a ten point deduction. This is the St. Lucy's School homework policy for all grades.
If a student is absent, he/she must complete the homework in a timely manner. I give students plenty of time to complete assignments when they are absent. I do not deduct points from an assignment or project if a child was absent. If homework was due a day he/she was absent, it MUST be brought in the day he/she returns. Ten points will be deducted or a demerit will be issued if the homework is not turned in.
Your child's full name must be written on all homework sheets. FIVE points will be deducted from any papers that do not have a name! The students are reminded to put their names on their papers every day!
I understand that things happen that are out of our control. Life happens, especially with kids. That being said, please try not to make excuses for your child not doing his/her homework unless there was an emergency Please do not call the school or come to the school asking that your child be allowed to get their forgotten homework. The students must learn to be responsible for their actions.
