Of course your child well being is always our number one top priority! Ms. Francis and I need to know if your child has any allergies or medical conditions. Will need medical documentation from your child’s doctor for an EpiPen, asthma inhaler, etc. for the school nurse. We need to know if your child has an Indivulaized Education Plan (IEP). In addition into knowing if your child speaks any langauges other than English. As you know, we hold an After School Program and so, we will need to know from now if you want your child to be in After School. Lastly, who will picking up your child (their name must be on the Emergency Card-ID will be required). We care deeply about your children and so, we must work as a team to take these steps. If your child has any medical condtions that I listed prior or any other condition, please do let Ms. Francis and I know as soon as possible orally in person or on phone and/or through email.
I am please to inform you about your child’s classroom and what are the new experiences and learning they’re about to endure! But before we dive into that, we must go over general information about the 3K program. To start off, the school’s doors open at 7:30am and the doors close at 7:45am. Once you enter the 3KA classroom, you will sign an attendance sheet so we can mark your student present. Dismissal is at 2:05pm and ends at 2:15pm but also be aware that attendance is crucial for your child’s learning. If they’re late, they will miss important information that they would need to learn to aide in their learning development. If your child is going to be absent, will be absent or just going to be absent for half the day, please do send in a note, call the school at (718)-882-2203, or just send an email to the school’s email at [email protected]. In regard to meals, you can bring a healthy snack and/or lunch but that’s only if your child does not want to eat our school meals. The program does provide only breakfast and lunch as they eat their meals in the classroom. Just to keep in mind that if you do provide breakfast and/or lunch, snack for your child, it cannot be heated. You can check the programs daily breakfast and lunch schedules on the school website and even on the 3K-A board just located outside of the classroom as you look to your left. There will be family engagement activities, projects, and opportunities for you to get involved on our current study. Even some activities that we will do with your children you can do at home. This is extremely important as this also helps with their learning development because children learn best when having fun! Of course, Ms. Francis and I will tell you what we did in class that day in which we know you can do at home! You can even check on the website (Teaching Strategies for Gold) as more information about this is to follow. No worksheets will be sent home as we are under a creative curriculum that’s more hand base than reading and writing. Which brings me to my favorite topic of talking about Ms. Hurd and Ms. Francis’s classroom! As mentioned before, this school year we will be following the Teaching Strategies Gold/Curriculum for Pre-K For All. This curriculum is under the New York State Common Core Learning Standards for Pre-K. This curriculum builds your child’s confidence, creativity and critical thinking skills through hands-on, project based investigations to advance their skills in the different developmental domains of personal, social and emotional development, language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social studies, the arts and physical development. All these domains to make your child stronger in each and every way! On another note, we do have 3 Parent Teacher Conferences throughout the school year. Fall 2024, Winter 2025, and Spring 2025. Early dismissal for these Parent Teacher Conferences is at 11:00am. You will be notified by the school and by myself once the time comes near of what times will be available throughout that day for our conference. All in all, Ms. Francis and I just want your child to have fun learning and be so excited about the thought of it! Ms. Francis and I already made that as our goal to fulfill that for your child so they would love to come to Ms. Hurd and Ms. Francis classroom to make it their classroom as well! Also to just be so eager to tell you what they learned at school! I can’t wait for us to have a successful and fun school year!
